I want to say this carefully, because for the next half hour I'm going to describe the most successful business model in poker training in terms that sound like an attack, when really it's structural. The claim: the modern training site is functionally identical to a religious institution. Same priesthood, same scriptures, same rituals, same salvation promise. The tell is termination — education ends when you've learned; religion never ends, because the subscription is the entire game. The coaches aren't bad people; the pulpit is the problem, not the preacher. The economics require perpetual unfinishedness, and they parasitize the oldest human need there is — the need for a teacher. This week: audit your subscription, run one month without it, and learn to read the solver yourself. Independence isn't for sale. It has to be built alone.

The pulpit is the problem, not the preacher. When the preacher is good, the religion is slightly less damaging, but it is still religion.
